For posters who are vegans or vegetarians- do you feel healthier then you did on a diet that included meat?

i've researched this extensively, but i'm interested in people's opinions and experiences.. .

i...am considering becoming a vegan, or at least a vegetarian..

I quit!

I've been mostly vegan since mid January. What I mean by mostly is that I had a little milk in my tea or coffee maybe four or five times in the last six month. Oh and cream cheese on a bagel twice. Anyway I do feel better and I lost some extra pounds. One thing I notice is that my attitude is a lot better. For whever reason I'm a lot happier. I really don't miss eating meat. Last year while my wife was at her assembly in Utah I lived on bacon, hamburgers, hotdogs and steaks. This year was quite a change from years past but I ate well without meat. I'm really enjoying the change. It is kind of an adventure.

so i thought i was a pretty accepting person.

sure i grew up in a bigoted cult who hates gay people.. now i'm an atheist who has no reason to care about anyones sexual prefferences.. .

but i've watched inverviews of trans people.

I reall don't know. It is a pretty complex subject. If you were a woman who was traped in a mans body or the other way around that in itself could give you mental problems. The mental problems could be a side effect of what you were going through.

A big percentage of what we view as male or female has nothing to do with our physical bodies or any biology it is more cultural and what we have been taught is male or female. To me I really don't care about things like that. There are good people who are worth knowing and then there are the dicks. I don't care about weight, size, color, if they are gay straight if they are nice people then we should give them the respect and friend ship they deserve and we should stand up to anyone gives them a bad time.

although i haven't been a witness for over 20 years, it has taken me that long to finally feel brave enough to join another church (aka christendom) and begin researching my past beliefs.

all this research has opened a few old wounds, but mostly liberated me from a lot of quilt.

How Did You Become An Atheist?

since there seem to be a number of threads in this spirit, i'd like to ask how others became atheists.

for myself, i learned some things that made me understand the bible wasn't true.

i looked deeper, and it became even more unlikely.

I'm not an atheist but I'm open minded enough to know I could be wrong. I do remember after I had been out of the WT for about a year or so I decided to read the book of Genesis. It became so obvious to me that the Adam and Eve and the snake story was a myth and not a historic account. I couldn't believe people, including myself ever took it literally. I also found the same thing to be true about many of the other stories in the Bible.. the Tower of Babel, the flood, the story of Lot, Jehovah's wrestling match etc....

ending a sentence in a proposition can get a guy slapped a who bunch of times.. conjugating stuff should only be done in a proper marriage.. a split infinity leads to babies.. gerunds are little animals certain movie stars put in places where the sun don't shine.. transitive refers to people who live under bridges.. intransitive refers to people who live in houses.. double life imprisonment is a compound sentence for really bad guys.. a compound/complex sentence is almost the same thing, but the judge was on drugs and didn't have a clue when he issued it.. parsing a sentence should only be performed by people who don't have a clue what they are doing.. an example of a propositional phrase is "hey babe!

your place or mine?".

alliteration is what happens when a whole bunch of people toss garbage out of their car windows on the highway.. punctuation is what every 14 year old boy wants to do to every 14 year old girl and every other female on the planet for that matter.. using a semi-colon in a sentence is the same thing as using a period, except it isn't.. using a colon is something best done in private.. most people, use commas, way too much, and this, should be, avoided, however.. exclamation marks should be used sparingly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
